Soulja Boy is enjoying a renaissance moment in storied career; his work rate has been nowhere this high. The console he is/was intermittently selling may be nothing more than an emulation pack, and in all honesty, Soulja's side-hustles, however industrious, don't come close to Kanye's efforts in the Fashion World, though he sees things differently.
But with that said, Soulja Boy Tell'em does everything on the low, including the industry pick-me-ups that go unreported. 2011 was a productive year for Soulja on the musical front. On Halloween of that year, Soulja Boy was toying with youth culture like many of his contemporaries, with the release of his Skate Boy mixtape. Inevitably Soulja covered tons of ground on SB, all without renouncing his expensive taste.
"Louis Vuitton" follows a similar trajectory as much of his mid-tempo material. LV was clearly in vogue at the time, so you know Soulja had to position himself a few steps ahead, in yet another "pioneering" effort. Fast forward to Today, and Louis Vuitton much like Soulja Boy is on the cusp of a renaissance in rap, due to Virgil Abloh's appointment as the brand's Artistic Director for menswear.
Quotable Lyrics:
Soulja, swagger, Louis
I came out the water
L.V. shades on
Swaggin' across the border
Everybody knows that
The kid's get' paid though
Brand new Chevy
Paint color rainbow.
