Elizabeth Banks has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming film Queen For A Day, which tells the story of the hotel maid who won a date with Prince in 1986. The story will be adapted from Chris Lee’s Daily Beast story When Prince Made a Chambermaid His Queen for a Day.
According to Deadline, Prince will not be portrayed by an actor in the film, but his presence will be felt throughout. Instead of focusing on the date itself, it will zone in on the "herculean effort that went into organizing an event that brought the 5’3″ purple-clad rock icon to a small cowboy town and established his date as a reluctant media sensation." It will also tell the story of two women's whose lives changed through the event: "the Manhattan PR exec responsible for the event’s success and the shy, awkward contest winner from Wyoming, whose town becomes the unexpected nexus of all things Prince for one unforgettable night."
Flora Greeson has been pegged to rewrite a first draft by one of the movie's producer's Josh Stolberg.
