Chicago pioneer Chief Keef has baffled fans for years; some tout him as one of the game's most influential, and thus, important figures, while others write him off as technically unremarkable. Yet Keef has remained a fascinating artist insofar as his prolific release schedule is concerned; for the most part, he's driven by a seemingly ever-active prerogative to release whatever he wants, whenever he wants. In that regard, it's been difficult to lay a finger on the pulse of Keef's musical identity, as it seems to evolve (or devolve, depending who you're asking) on the slightest whim.
Now, the rapper has delivered a veritable time capsule in The Leek 7, lining up a revised rendition of "Jet Li," featuring a new verse from big Guwop. For the most part, the song's aesthetic remains unchanged, though arguably given a slight polish off the inherent presence of new-age Gucci Mane. Though polish is, for the most part, a generous term; where Chief Keef is concerned, there's often charm in the lack of refinement, a quality he's carried from the onset.
Quotable Lyrics
I be off the s**ts, can’t shit upset me
I come through in my Rari, kicking shit like Jet Li
Hop in my Bentley, please do not tempt me
I come through in my Audi, chopping shit like Jet Li
She see my neck piece, now she wanna molest me
