It didn't take long for Kareem Hunt to find an ally in Ray Rice, an ex-NFLer who understands his predicament all too well. To recap: Hunt was met with all-consuming NFL sanction which coincided with him losing his job Kansas City Chiefs. This all happened with hours of a video leak depicting him brutally kicking a 19-year old who was later dissuaded by police officers not to press charges. It was only until TMZ leaked the footage, that Kareem Hunt's attack on the 19-year old woman became public knowledge, prompting the NFL to react immediately, given the precedent set by Ray Rice and other past offenders.
Ray Rice has done a lot of soul-searching since he was caught on camera assaulting his domestic partner. Since the closure of his NFL career, Rice has become very involved with A Call To Men, an organization that aims to eliminate the conditions that favor toxic male behavior, like that demonstrated by Kareem Hunt in the surveillance video.
"Peer-to-peer, I would definitely try to help him figure out," Rice told NFL.com of his plans to get in touch with Kareem Hunt. "Because he has a long life to live, this will be a defining moment, but it shouldn’t be the moment that defines you. For me, I just see you have a long life to live and that doesn’t mean just playing football — you need to just live one day at a time."
