Billionaire Elon Musk made a bold statement earlier this year. Back in July, Musk tweeted "Please consider this a commitment that I will fund fixing the water in any house in Flint that has water contamination above FDA levels. No kidding." Well apparently, he wasn't kidding. Musk is delivering on his promise to help fix the water in Flint, Michigan, by putting his money where his mouth is.
As reported by CNN, Musk is replacing the water filtration systems in all 12 Flint schools, and the district's administration building, by the end of January 2019. "The UV water purification method within the water filtration systems will disinfect all lead and bacteria coming from the water pipes to allow students to drink from and fill up water bottles from school water fountains," the city of Flint said in a press release. The Flint Public School system also sent out a thankful tweet.
"Thank you @elonmusk and @MuskFoundation for investing in the health/future well-being FCS Students!," read the tweet. "Your generous donation will help us replace ALL water fountains w/NEW WATER STATIONS & WATER FILTRATION at ALL SCHOOLS! Looking forward to our burgeoning partnership! More to come!" Musk responded graciously, and offered to send more aid.
