Avicii’s family have released a statement about the DJ’s funeral, but details will remain private.

The family of the Swedish DJ Avicii (born Tim Bergling) announced today that the 28-year-old's funeral will be private.

According to Billboard, the family issued a statement on the matter saying “There have been many inquiries regarding the funeral arrangements for Tim Bergling, known by music fans as Avicii.” They went on to say “The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim. They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming.”

The DJ’s body was found in his hotel room on April 20. Authorities ruled out foul play, saying his cause of death was major blood loss due to a broken wine bottle. "Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions," a statement from the family read. "When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most -- music... He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace."

Avicii was plagued with health issues that he was open about. He suffered from pancreatitis - a disease which causes the pancreas becomes inflamed – and had surgery to remove his gallbladder and pancreas, which resulted in his retirement from touring.
