As NFL teams around the league partner up for joint practices ahead of the second full week of preseason games, fight and brawls are to be expected. It happens every summer and they are typically the first sign that "football is back."
Earlier this week, there were several altercations during the Jets and Redskins' joint practice, particularly between the Redskins' offense and Jets' defense. The biggest brawl, which nearly spilled over into the crowd of fans in attendance, broke out when Redskins offensive tackle Morgan Moses was allegedly hit with a cheap shot during a running play.
The latest NFL training camp scrap comes out of the Houston Texans' and San Francisco 49ers' joint practice, where Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins got into it with Niners defensive back Jimmie Ward. According to 49ers reporter, Cam Inman the two players shook hands as Hopkins left the field, and Ward returned to practice shortly after the scuffle.
The two teams will take the field against each other on Saturday night, in their second of four pre-season games. The Texans open up the regular season on the road in New England, while the 49ers head to Minnesota for Week 1.
