Blessings on blessings.

Jay-Z and Beyonce brought their On The Run II tour to Seattle on Thursday night (October 4), and the generous and wealthy couple continued on their giving streak. Throughout the tour, Jay-Z and Beyonce have been awarding high school seniors across the nation with $100,000 scholarships. Eleven teens were awarded in total, but the final recipient in Seattle was a little more special than others.

The News Tribute reported that 17-year-old Khairi Perry was awarded the $100,000 from the BeyGood and Shawn Carter Foundations. “It’s mind-boggling,” he told the publication. “All my focus is on graduating high school and getting into college and pursuing my dream. I was lost in the moment until my name was called." Perry has spent the last four years bouncing between nomadic homeless life and places provided by those close to him. Most of the time has been spent living in motels, shelters, and with friends or family. “Currently, I’m living with friends,” he admitted. At one point, Perry and his family lived in a car.

“Even when I got older and started to understand my situation, I still didn’t ask questions because I figured no one could answer them,” Perry told the Federal Way Mirror. “I would try to find an answer myself. When that was a dead end, it was school and sports that were there for me.”
