Ariana Grande put her ex-fiancé Pete Davidson on blast last week after he cracked a joke about their short-lived engagement during the SNL promo. "For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh. thank u. next," she wrote in an Instagram comment. Shortly after, she revealed that Thank U, Next is actually the title of her forthcoming album and shared the project's title track. In the song, she opened up about her high-profile relationships including with Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez who she revealed actually heard the song before it dropped.
Ariana Grande wasn't about to catch her exes off guard with her new single, "Thank U, Next." The singer revealed on Twitter that both Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez heard the single before she released it.
"they heard it before it came out," she said in response to a fan who used a meme of Chris Rock to describe what they thought Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez reaction was to the song.
Grande also shared a clip on her Instagram story of Alvarez looking shocked as he hears his name in the song. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH IM SORRY YOU GOT THE WORST LINE @rickyrozay it was meant v lovingly," she wrote.
During the first verse of her new song, Grande sings, "Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match / Wrote songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete, I’m so thankful / Wish I could say ‘thank you’ to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel."
