Free food and discounts are always welcome.

There have been several food-based holidays this year that offered freebies and discounts for hungry customers, and we're not complaining. National Ice Cream Day was a personal favorite, but that has since come and gone. Now, we have arrived on July 18, which has been dubbed National Hot Dog Day.

Hotdogs are one of America's favorite Summertime foods. You would be hard-pressed to find a cookout where hot dogs were not on the grill. That's why having National Hot Dog day in the middle of July is so fitting. There are several restaurants offering freebies and other deals today, and these are the five best places to take advantage of the unofficial holiday.

Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries- From 2 to 5 PM, hot dogs are 99 cents each. Customers must dine-in for the deal, and the limit is two people. You must be a member of My Hwy 55 Rewards Program.
