It appears Jhene Aiko has some new hardware to add to her growing list of accomplishments & accolades. On Wednesday night, the R&B songstress was honored at the 26th anniversary of Apex For Youth’s Inspiration Awards in NYC where she was presented with an inspiration award for her work with the youth.
“i haven’t won many awards in my life... so i have never had to give an acceptance speech... until tonight 😳 i was so nervous and excited 😫 but this was the most amazing, humbling experience 😭 thank you @apexforyouth for the Inspiration award... thank you so much for all that you do to inspire the youth!! tonight has inspired me beyond measure and has made me realize i am on the right path and headed in the right direction 🙏🏼 congrats to @therealcarollim, @humberto, and @john_c_jay for being honored as well!,” she captioned her post last night.
As Jhene mentioned, this was the first time she had to give an acceptance speech. She was nominated for a Grammy back in 2015, but ultimately didn't win therefore avoiding the speech altogether.
Check out a clip of Jhene along with some photos from Wednesday night’s Gala (below). Look for new music to be on the way.
