Wiz Khalifa's Rolling Papers 2 is expected to slot right below Scorpion in next week's projected sales round up. Projected sales numbers rounded up by Chart Data have Drake's Scorpion retaining the top spot for U.S. sales with 275-300k sold, followed by Rolling Papers 2 with 80-85k sold. Rounding out the top 5 are Post Malone, XXXTentacion, and Cardi B, artist who have been fixtures on the sales charts for the better part of the summer.
Wiz's hotly anticipated follow up to Rolling Papers was received with skepticism, but of those who spoke up, a good number of rap fans were willing to learn first hand. The 25-song double album has become suspect to questions of organization more so than anything else. Hip hop purists have long awaited a particular "return to form" for Wiz, others are simply happy to see him branch out at his own pace. Rappers such as Gucci Mane, Swae Lee, Ty Dolla $ign, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Snoop Dogg all take on cameo roles on Rolling Papers 2.
Whatever the case, Wiz has done himself no harm in balancing himself on different footstools. Of the projected 80-85k sales figures, Wiz is believed to have secured at least 13-15k coming off physical sales, numbers that contribute to over a billion dollars worth of stimulus.
