Yesterday, the world rejoice when Meek Mill was released from prison. For over five months, many were campaigning to get the rapper out of prison for what was deemed as an unjust sentence. He came out like a boss. 76ers owner, Michael Rubin, flew him to Game 5 directly from prison to the Wells Fargo Center where he celebrated his release alongside his son, Lil Uzi Vert, Kevin Hart, the Sixers and of course, Philadelphia. You'd think with such a triumphant return that one would feel liberated from everything that was weighing on him over the months, however, that may not be the case.
Meek Mill's first post-prison interview will air later on tonight with Lester Holt. Meek's currently free on bail and his team is currently working to overturn the conviction he received at the age of 19. He explained to Holt that it still weighs over him despite his recent release.
"No, I don't feel free. I ain't feel free since I caught this case at the age of 19. I'm 30 now." He explained. "I believe that God is my first lawyer, I always believe that. I got a strong team behind me, I got a lot of support. A lot of light shed on my situation."
He continued to explain that he now has a lot of responsibility to help people who are currently going through the same thing.
"I got a lot of responsibility. I got a lot of important people depending on me and not them people, them public officials. I'm talking about the men that's depending on me, going through the same thing I'm going through." He said.
