Fortnite has only been growing since it began. The battle royale styled game was popular among gamers, but it grew to become a cultural phenomenon as the developers kept updating it. Epic Games deserves all the credit for delivering and building upon Fortnite, and now the developer is offering enormous rewards for participating in the first season of competitive play.
As announced on Epic Games' blog, they will be offering $100,000,000 in prizes for authorized competitions. It was only a matter of time before Fortnite officially joined the lucrative eSports community. "Grab your gear, drop in and start training," begins the announcement. "Since the launch of Fortnite Battle Royale we’ve watched the passion for community competition grow and can’t wait to empower you to battle with the best. In the 2018 - 2019 season, Epic Games will provide $100,000,000 to fund prize pools for Fortnite competitions. We’re getting behind competitive play in a big way, but our approach will be different - we plan to be more inclusive, and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game."
Epic Games also stated that they would be supplying "competitive structures and eligible platforms" in the upcoming weeks. Currently, the popular game is in Season 4 and is gearing up for an Android device launch.
