A private autopsy disputes police claims that they acted in self-defence in the fatal shooting of Stephon Clark.

A doctor acting on behalf of Stephon Clark's family has revealed his findings after performing a private autopsy on the deceased body. Clark's family sought out the forensic specialist for a second opinion. The results of the initial autopsy on his death sparked citywide protests in Sacramento, and general unrest in other cities where demonstrations were already occurring against gun violence.

Stephon Clark was fatally shot while in his grandmother's backyard on March 18. Police officers on the scene claimed Clark was pointing a gun in their direction, when in fact only a cell phone was found next to his body. The independent autopsy conducted by Dr. Bennet Omalu contradicts the police statement, which infers they reacted to a threat. The autopsy reveals that of the 8 gun shots which entered his body, 6 of which were in his back, insinuating a blind sided attack by the cops. Dr. Omalu presented his fact sheet at a press conference, held yesterday:

"You could reasonably conclude that he received seven gunshot wounds from his back." Omalu also contended that each of those bullet discharges presented a "a fatal capacity."

This evidence completely discredits the narrative depicting Stephon Clark as an aggressor in the situation. Authorities continue to gather information as the piece together the sequence of events. Stephon Clark's family has the public on their side. As long as video of the incident remains available for public viewing, a hope remains for the Clark family in their pursuit of justice.
