It's been over three years since Earl Sweatshirt delivered his last project, I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside. The rapper's been teasing a new project throughout the course of this year, but he never revealed when his next album would drop. Last week, Vince Staple teased new music from Earl on his album, FM!. Now, it looks like Earl might be gearing up to drop a new album in the near future.
Earl Sweatshirt took to Instagram earlier today to share a mysterious new video that seems to be hinting at new music coming soon. The video runs for less than 30 seconds and features what appears to be new music. Although Earl's vocals aren't heard in the clip, the rapper did tease a bit of production that's presumably from a song off his upcoming project.
At the tail end of 2017, Earl Sweatshirt promised that he'd release new music this year. In late September, the rapper hinted that he has new music coming soon in a since-deleted tweet. "the vibes... SRS COMING SOON THE WAIT IS ALMOST OVER !!” he wrote before taking it down from his feed. With only two more months of the year remaining, it looks like we might be getting a new album from him before 2019 comes around.
A few weeks ago, The Alchemist gave fans a bit of insight into what to expect from Earl's next project. During a Twitter Q&A, the legendary producer built the anticipation for Earl's new album by calling it a "masterpiece."
"listened to his new album again last nite that shit is a masterpiece," he said to a fan.
Keep your eyes peeled for new music from Earl. If his little Instagram teaser indicates anything, it's that the wait is almost over.
