In the wake of her latest single, Cardi B hit Instagram to check in with her fans. "I just finished my album," reveals Cardi, hinting at a few last minute updates. "I've been locked in the studio for three days straight. I'm sick like a muthafucka." It's hard to imagine what she might have been working on so close to the release date, but in Cardi we trust. She proceeds to show some love to all her supporters who checked out "Be Careful," which marks her most stylistically diverse single thus far. Rather than sticking to the formula set by "Bodak Yellow" and "Bartier Cardi," "Be Careful" felt like more of an early two-thousands Eve throwback cut.
"I know it's something ya'll not expecting to come from me, but you know, I like different types of shit," says Cardi. "That's one of my records that speaks the most to me." She also reveals that she decided against putting a "singer" on the hook, as she wanted the track to feel like a genuine open letter.
While she was quick to reiterate that it was not, in fact, a diss track toward her fiancee Offset, Cardi effectively put him on blast over his infidelity; one wonders what their conversation was like after a shared listening session. Still, it worked for Beyonce and Jay-Z, giving us Lemonade and 4:44 in the process. Should we expect some grown man shit from Offset in the near future? Give it time.
Stay tuned for Cardi B's Invasion Of Privacy, dropping April 6th.
