Fans following the current NFL season are having a hard time watching all these roughing the passer calls. It's a pain to watch some of the most uneventful tackles, or straight up legal moves, get called as penalties. There's even an ongoing joke surrounding the Greenbay Packers' Clay Matthews, who has been flagged for some of the most ridiculous plays. Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has spoken professionally about his worries when it comes to the yellow flags flying up and down the field. After the Steelers versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers match that featured four roughing the passer calls and 22 total penalties, Tomlin made his concerns known. It's been two weeks since then, and he's dropped some of the professionalism to vent from the heart.
As reported by ESPN, Tomlin called some of the calls a "joke," after he was asked about a facemask penalty. While he did agree that the facemask call looked legitimate, he wasn't impressed by many other calls. "But some of the other stuff, man, is a joke," Tomlin stated. "We gotta get better as a National Football League. Man, these penalties are costing people games and jobs. We gotta get 'em correct. And so I'm pissed about it, to be quite honest with you. But that's all I'm gonna say on it." Steelers linebackers T.J. Watt and Jon Bostic were both hit with roughing the passer calls this past Sunday versus the Falcons.
