Waka Flocka delivers another mixtape as part of his "DuFlocka" series, "DuFlocka Rant: Half-Time Show," which proves to be another standard Waka release. There are a few bangers, a few misses, but all in all, it's what fans expect from the rapper.

Halftime at any sporting event is usually the time when folks go to the bathroom, get refreshments and talk amongst themselves about the game. For Waka Flocka Flame, halftime is no time for an intermission. Instead, it’s a period to continue carrying the heat.

So is the case with the latest mixtape in Waka’s DuFlocka series, DuFlocka Rant: Half-Time Show The 19-track opus, which follows 2011’s DuFlocka Rant (10 Toes Down) and February’s DuFlocka Rant 2, is classic Waka, with anthems to ride too, as well as food for thought.

Tracks to take note of include “Whole Wide World” featuring Avery Storm, and “Ain’t Shit Changed,” where Flocka makes it clear to the haters that “this my year!” and he'll continue doing what he does, whether they like it or not. “Smile,” which is produced by Black Metaphor, is a worthy highlight that serves as a motivator for anyone who’s had a bad day or going through some type of struggle. Not one to end on a weak note, Flocka does his thing with “Way to Top,” the Half-Time show closer. With a strong soundtrack, 'the son of Debra' broadcasts his “grown man status” while highlighting the work he put in.

Although, DuFlocka Rant: Half-Time Show has its share of hits (for example, “Where It At," the “50K” remix featuring a wicked assist from T.I., as well as “Judge For You”), there are some songs that fail to live up to Waka’s game-day mindset. “Touchdown” with Kurt CT and “Short Fuse” with Eldorado Red and Young Scooter come across as simple filler, while “Come Around” featuring Young Thug sounds too much like a T-Pain track, and doesn't really stand out.

Despite this, a nice surprise can be found on the 808 Mafia-produced “Interlude.” The smooth, laid-back vibe sets a mood for casually enjoying the music. The same can be said for “Red Ferrari,” which creates an entirely different mood, but accomplishes its mission of getting you right for the strip club.

All in all, DuFlocka Rant: Half-Time Show is a decent showing for Waka Flocka that paints a picture of what’s to come in the second half. The guest stars play their position, but the star is Flocka. No doubt, the “No Hands” rapper will rebound quickly from this brief rest and come back ready to post all-star numbers when it’s all said and done.
