Pharrell's production on Migos' "Stir Fry" was a contrast to the trio's regular Atlanta trap sound, but it turned out to be a welcome challenge to the deceptively versatile group. It seems that Quavo and Pharrell are making some more music together, though it's unclear whether it's for another Migos track or something else entirely.
Fans will note that Quavo has been branching out into production himself, so there's a possibility the two were working on some beats shortly before snapping a photo in the studio. Whatever it is, Pharrell seems to be excited about it. "Don’t ask. You already know," reads the confident caption on his post.
Quavo, whose go-to program is Fruity Loops, spoke of what he learned about production through his work with Kanye West a few months back. "It's crazy. He's got a crazy, different feel. He's got all this old shit that he had from coming in making beats that he still uses. His original box, his original keyboards," he said. "He's still got his old hard drives and all his samples. Just to see that he still cherish the old stuff that he came in with." While Ye is a sample guy, Pharrell is often writing keyboard lines, so if the two are working on some beats, he's a good person to take some additional notes from.
Quavo recently revealed that he, Offset and Takeoff would be releasing solo singles as part of DJ Durel's album this summer. Maybe this session could have something to do with it. Then again, Pharrell is due for another album himself. Until then, you'll have to settle for another listen to "Stir Fry." Thankfully, it hasn't gotten old yet.
