Alexis Sanchez may have saved his coach the humiliation of a sacking by the Manchester United chairman of the board.

A player Mourinho had prematurely banished from his side ended up saving his arse this afternoon, in Manchester narrow 3-2 win over Newcastle United. Alexis Sanchez yo-yo trajectory from the starting lineup to the bench, and back to the pitch, only begins to describe the dysfunction at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho's job at the team's head coach has never been more at risk.

This coming from a manager who has literally controlled his job security every step for ten years now. Many pundits agree that Mourinho likely "lost" the locker room after ostensibly picking a fight with French national Paul Pogba, whom he stripped the vice-captaincy from.

After their narrow win, Mourinho spoke of the unrest in the dressing room, as an improbable case of "man-hunting," like he'd never seen before in his career as a coach. "This is the first time I've seen in football man-hunting," Mourinho told BT Sport. "I am 55. I am mature. I can cope with it and I can live with it. I think, really, some of the boys, in spite of them not being the man that is hunted, I think that they are not coping well with it."

Earlier in the week, The Daily Mirror had published a report that Jose Mourinho's job depending on a victory against Newcastle United this afternoon, and they did exactly that in the 90th (final) minute of the game. Where they go from here as a team, is another story altogether.
