Details have emerged regarding Alec Baldwin's arrest on Friday.

TMZ has learned that Alec Baldwin's assault case may have been grossly exaggerated by law enforcement and the media. It turns out the punch Alex Baldwin administered to Wojciech Cieszowski - the man who stole his parking spot, may have actually been a slap at worst. And get this, the whole ordeal may have been a shoving match, and not a blindsided attack, as previously reported.

Apparently, there's even surveillance video to support the argument that Baldwin acted in self-defense, or at least on equal terms. Alec relayed a message to Twitter denying the circumstances that were reported on. "The assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot" is false, he stated on the Twitter account for the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation. Baldwin added that he "wanted to go on the record stating as much."

The surveillance footage is grainy and hard to make out, but if proven equally culpable, Baldwin would inevitably have his assault charge diminished, or thrown away altogether. Baldwin's alleged victim Wojciech Cieszowski told cops he suffered neck and facial injuries as a result of the alleged attack, allegations the actor continues to deny.

As reported, Baldwin had an attendant holding a parking spot for him in front of the plaza, when Cieszowski stole it from beneath his "slouched position."
