DC's live-action series Titans premiered at New York Comic Con this week, and the reviews are praising the mature show. Titans will play like a Rated-R movie, with gore, cursing, bone breaking, and endless violence. When many fans first got a glimpse of the main cast, which is comprised of Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Raven, they were not amused. Although Robin had a comic accurate costume, the rest of the cast looked like they were just rocking street clothes. Trailer and promo for Titans confimred that the heroes would be costumeless for most the series, leaving comic book fans disappointed.
Anna Diop, who plays Starfire, spoke with Comicbook.com during New York Comic Con and revealed that she would be donning a costume soon enough. "As soon as I put it on, everyone was flipping out,” Diop explained. “It’s awesome because it’s something that so many people have seen for so long and it means so much to people and this is the first time we’re bringing it to life, but you know — our story takes its time. It takes its time, it’s an origin story, so it takes its time in the characters coming to this place where you see them and the way that everyone’s always known. I hope that the audience can be patient with us and have fun with us. It’s a ride, and it’s a fun one.”
Titans touches down on DC Universe October 12, and will follow a weekly release schedule, unlike most streaming service shows.
