The streaming giant is beefing up their services.

In the midst of Facebook's Cambridge Analytica debacle that has many questioning their security and privacy online, other corporations are looking to ensure their vast patronage that their data is safe. Netflix, the world's most famous streaming service, has appointed former United Nations ambassador and Obama-era National Security Advisor Susan Rice to their board in a bid add some extra protection to their servers. While Netflix has not been singled out for antitrust issues, they are a part of an elite roster of contentious tech giants with a considerable reach, alongside Amazon, Facebook and Google.

This hiring effectively gives the company a government-level strategist who specializes in safety and diplomacy. "For decades, she has tackled difficult, complex global issues with intelligence, integrity and insight and we look forward to benefiting from her experience and wisdom," reveals Netflix CEO Reed Hastings

Rice may also be able to help the company tap into international markets to help them diversify their outreach amongst a more kaleidoscopic group of individuals.

Rice will now be joining Microsoft president and chief legal officer Brad Smith, former co-chair of Disney Media Anne Sweeney, and the executive chairman of Zillow Group Richard Barton as Netflix board members.
