On Friday, Nicki Minaj rolled through waving the Young Money flag, dropping off Queen for the masses. As of now, early consensus seems to indicate that Nicki came through with an undeniable win, despite what some felt to be an inconsistent rollout. Still, not everybody can dub themselves Queen and feel credible; Nicki has earned her stripes and has the accolades to prove it. Not only that, but her list of co-signs is equally impressive. Over the weekend, the legendary Lil Wayne recorded a personal message for Nicki, dubbing Queen one of the best albums he's heard in recent memory.
Now, Nicki has responded to his praise in kind, taking to Instagram to voice a few thoughts on her "Rich Sex" collaborator. "I can’t believe he did this. I’m so emotional," writes Nicki. "If you know Wayne, he’s very particular about his compliments on rap skills. I’ve always felt like I was auditioning for him. This is the best thing he’s ever said to me. Love you SO MUCH."
It's interesting to hear Minaj provide insight into Weezy's particular tastes, and one has to wonder what truly meets the stamp of approval. Luckily for all involved, it would appear that Queen has gone a long way in charming the Young Money ringleader. Big praise, from one lyricist to another.
