James Gunn may have lost his job at Marvel, but it looks like he'll recover just fine. Gunn was famously booted by Disney after tweets he posted a decade ago resurfaced. Gunn outlandishly made fun of rape, pedophilia, and a number of other topics that Disney felt did not fit in with their ideals. After Gunn was fired, the Guardians of the Galaxy cast banned together to stick up for the director with a joint statement, and Dave Bautista (who plays Drax) has been notably vocal about the firing. Still, it doesn't seem like Disney is going to rescind on their decision.

According to The Hollywood ReporterGunn is being eyed by several other big studios in the wake of his dismissal from Disney. Warner Bros., which owns the DC Comics movie universe, is reportedly one of those studios interesting in Gunn's talents. If DC were able to steal away one of Marvel's top directors, it would be a major win in their books. DC was able to use Joss Whedon, who directed the first two Avengers films, to fill in for Zack Snyder after he had to step away due to a family tragedy. Whedon's reshoots made Justice League feel convoluted to some, but Gunn helming an entire project by himself would fare much better.
