NXNE has announced the first wave of performers for 2018's Summer lineup. Organizers marked the occasion by debuting a viral promo, in the false pretext of a smear campaign. The video features a series of nasty reviews for previous NXNE events, before cutting to giant font "WE GET IT. AND WE'RE COMING BACK." Those words come with an expectation the festival can right their wrongs.

Consequently, NXNE has overhauled its programming with respect to the feedback they received. Festivals often experience growing pains, and actual monetary loss, in their first years of nativity. NXNE also released the lineup for its Club Land series, devising 30 individual showcases over 7 days. Artists included in the Club Land itinerary include Saya, Myst Milano, La Timpa, Just John, among others.
The main headliners for the festivities taking place on Yonge-Dundas Square this June are comprised of both, "local legends" and prominent acts from out-of-province and overseas. Toronto's Jazz Cartier & Sean Leon will represent their hometown, whereas outsiders Azealia Banks & Big Freedia look to be the biggest hip hop acts invited to perform. Big Freedia, a legend in her locale of New Orleans, was recently sampled in Drake's "Nice for What," a song that borrows from the energetic style of 'bounce music.' Tickets for the Club Land series are available at the low cost of $29. The Wristband gives you access to all 30 showcases. The main events are not included in the flat fee.
