Louis Vuitton has reached an impressive milestone since the company has now become the leading luxury name brand in the world, according to Interbrand. The top five brands in the world are Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Coca-Cola while LV comes in at #18 as the top luxury with Nike ahead at #17 as the top non-luxury brand.
Chanel sits at #23, Hermés #32 and Gucci has risen from #51 to #39.
LV's rise to the top probably has a lot to do with Virgil Abloh being named as the artistic director of men’s wear back in March. He made his first debut runway debut in June at Paris Fashion Week, leading a memorable rainbow runway that saw Skepta, Kid Cudi and more walk the jaw-dropping looks. "This opportunity to think through what the next chapter of design and luxury will mean at a brand that represents the pinnacle of luxury was always a goal in my wildest dreams," Virgil said of working with LV. "And to show a younger generation that there is no one way anyone in this kind of position has to look is a fantastically modern spirit in which to start."
