Although it always seems like everyone completely stops what they're doing whenever Kanye West or Jay-Z tweet, a new report shows that it's actually Drake who has the most weight on social networking sites.
A 12-month analysis of social conversations by Network Insight revealed that Drizzy is the king of hip-hop, on Twitter and Facebook at least. Network Insights looked at the rappers with the most social conversations on Twitter, Facebook, blogs and forums over the past year. Drake comes in first, with the number of 46.2 million, which is almost double the runner-up, Kanye West.
See the six rappers who dominate social networking, with the amount of social conversations sparked, below.
1. Drake – 46,212,641
2. Kanye West – 25,418,362
3. Lil Wayne – 22,052,209
4. Rick Ross – 16,113,915
5. Jay-Z – 16,022,820
6. 2 Chainz – 13,628,752
As USA Today reports, Drake saw the most consistency over time, and saw large spikes whenever he was buzzing in the news (his social engagement peaked when he was in the studio with Jay-Z). The same goes for Yeezy-- around the time Yeezus dropped, Kanye saw a spike in his social engagement, as when his baby North West was born. Wayne's highest point was when he was hospitalized for seizures, while Hov reached his highest social engagement when his Samsung app for MCHG was released.
