Duke Nukem helped revolutionize and popularize first-person shooting games in the 90's. Years before Call of Duty or Halo stole countless hours from the lives of gamers nationwide, Duke Nukem allowed gamers to ruthlessly gun down their enemies virtually. A film for the legendary game is in the works, and WWE superstar John Cena is slated to play the titular role.
Sitting down with CinemaBlend, producers of the film Andrew Form and Brad Fuller spoke candidly about how the Deadpool movie's style will influence the filming of the Duke Nukem movie. "We are working on Duke Nukem right now. It's going to be about tone," stated Form. "That's about tone. How do you nail that tone in the way that Deadpool nailed the tone? I think we have to do that and if we don't get the tone right then we're not going to make the movie."
Form also spoke about Cena, stating that although the film doesn't have a script completed, the famous wrestler is still onboard. "We don't have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point but if he reads the script and he doesn't like the script I'm sure there's ways that he could pull out, but right now he's our guy," explains Form.
Let's hope this video game movie is better than the rest of them.
