A shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas has resulted in the multiple casualties. This is the third school shooting in seven days, as well as the 22nd such occurrence since the beginning of the new year.
The unnamed suspect walked into an art class early Friday morning and began firing what appeared to be a shotgun. A witness reveals how they watched as a female student received bullet-inflected trauma to the leg.
Witnesses also describe how students began running out of the school as soon as gunshots and a school-wide alarm were heard. Although, the exact sequence of events remains unclear as of now. Injured faculty and pupils were rushed to a hospital in the nearby city of Galveston, a spokesperson for the medical facility exclusively revealed.
Dakota Shrader, a student who luckily escaped the incident unharmed, tearily notes how "I was in the history hallway, and as soon as we heard the alarms, everybody just started leaving following the same procedure as ... (a) practice fire drill. And next thing you know, we just hear ... three gunshots, loud explosions, and all the teachers are telling us to run."
The entire school district is now under lockdown for the time being.
