Teyana Taylor recently recruited Ghostface Killah, Raekwon and Method Man for the remix of her track, "Gonna Love Me" from K.T.S.E. Now, RZA has recruited Teyana Taylor to help launch Wu-Tang Clan's lipstick collaboration with NYC's Milk Makeup.
RZA has brought the Wu-Tang style into the makeup game. Milk Makeup and Bobby Digital have teamed up for a new collection of lipstick that draws inspiration from their mutual NYC heritage.
"Beyond the common denominator of Wu's and Milk's NYC cultural background, I'm excited about this collaboration for the Yin, or Feminine energy, that it invokes," RZA said to Billboard. "Milk Makeup has been bold in creating beauty products with unique ingredients. This collab dives deeper into that realm and I'm sure will inspire the Wisdom, Beauty, and Strength of today's Modern Warriors."
Wu-Tang has undoubtedly been influenced by Chinese culture and RZA used the same inspiration for the collaboration with Milk Makeup. The collection consists of eight lipsticks that are named after the I Ching Trigrams and also include sacred Chinese ingredients. Each lipstick encased in a solid black bullet. A gold dragon is wrapped around the lipstick itself while the outer packaging includes Wu-Tang's "W" and an exclusive symbol that meshes Milk Makeup's logo with the Chinese symbol for beauty.
RZA also produced a new song which is featured in the campaign ad which stars Teyana Taylor.
"[Working with Milk and Wu-Tang] was a no-brainer," she said. "[The collection] makes me feel empowered, because I definitely feel like a warrior in how I live my life. When I'm rehearsing for my shows, performing, and getting to share my craft with the world, it allows me to access serious personal power to do what I do. I love the idea that lipstick can be war paint of sorts. A power lip is called a power lip for a reason."
The limited edition collaboration collection is available exclusively on milkmakeup.com.
