DaBoyDame may not be a household to general audiences outside of the Bay Area, but what he lacks in curb appeal, he makes up for in experience. As a long-tenured DJ on fertile grounds (for hip-hop), DaBoy has established relationships with damn-near everyone passing through his section, including respected locals such as G-Eazy.
On "Dreams," DaBoyDame plays the role of an assembly line operator in grouping together some of his favorite acts, including his boss at CMG, the venerable Yo Gotti. After years of learning the lay of the land, DaBoyDame earned himself an A&R position under Yo Gotti, who was himself rewarded with his own imprint via Epic Records, some time ago.
DeJ Loaf starts the proceedings in no hurry whatsoever, "Dreams" really coming into fruition once Yo Gotti "bends the doormat white." DaBoyDame's Bay Area peer/pupil elevates the song with a closing verse reminiscent of his exploits: swooping shorties in the 10th grade with "papercuts" lingering on his hands like a mild annoyance. Quotable Lyrics:
I come thru’ in that batman, empty man, white tie
Imagine what that look like, bend the doormat white
Shout out to the bait, all my n****s act right
One tat to the D, dope boys get their sack right
And all my n****s were soldiers.
-Yo Gotti
