Halsey and G-Eazy broke up earlier this month, but it wasn't that long ago that the couple was happier than ever, according to a newly-published Marie Claire interview with Halsey conducted prior to the split.
"He's out of his fucking mind. I love everything about him," she said of her rapper boyfriend, before expanding on the first time they met. "We both knew right away. We just didn't act on it. I had just gotten out of a breakup; he just got out of a breakup. We were both, like, at the peak of our careers. Me, Myself & I had gone seven times platinum. Closer was, like, the biggest thing in the world. I just didn't have time."
She goes on to describe off-days in which the two get "old school" and drive around in a '65 Mustang singing Amy Winehouse, as vacations out to secluded cabins. "I've had partners who don't want to play along," she said. "It feels stupid. I love curating an experience, changing it up. And he's so that way with me. I haven't found someone who matches every version of me until him. Like, he's my left sneaker. For every version of him, there's a version of me to match."
It has been speculated that the couple broke up due to G-Eazy's infidelity, though that mostly boils down to one cryptic tweet. G-Eazy recently revealed that the two completed some new music together just before they broke up. "We were just in the studio the other night and we made a couple records," he told Billboard. "I talk about how much I love collaborating but like when you get to collaborate with the person you're in love with and you get to share that experience of making a song, performing a song and the person you're sharing it with is that, it's really dope." It's unclear if the music will still see release.
