Chance the rapper has been nominated for an Emmy Award thanks to his appearance on NBC's Saturday Night Live. In 2017, the rapper performed "Come Back, Barack", originally composed by Eli Brueggeman, in a December episode of the comedy series. The track was a throwback slow-jam complete with a spoken interlude. SNL cast members, Kenan Thompson and Chris Redd, joined the artist for the rendition.
Chance The Rapper hopped on Twitter to share his excitement: "Thank you @nbcsnl for getting me another @TheEmmys nomination for the second year in a row! Being with you guys for a week is an indescribable experience that stays with you forever and with or without the glory of an Emmy nod, the funnest shit of all time. @officialkenan."
Last year, the Chicago native was nominated for his tune "Last Christmas" which was also part of an SNL episode. Ultimately, Common took home the statuette for his contribution to Ava Duvernay's 13th.
Chance is already a Grammy Award-winner, which is no small feat for an independent artist. This most recent nomination adds to the positivity the entertainer is experiencing, as he recently got engaged to his long-time girlfriend. He is also set to release new music with Kanye West.
