This summer Henry Cavill spoke a movie role into existence for himself and now we've got the first look of him as Geralt of Rivia in the upcoming Netlfix series. While on a press your for the latest mission impossible movie he was asked what video game he was playing the most and he said "The Witcher 3. I just replayed all the way through." He's also read the book series apparently and likes them. When asked about being cast as Geralt he said: "Yeah, that would be an amazing role. The books are amazing." Here's a video of him wigged-out with Geralt's iconic white hair:
It's rare that something is adapted so many times–from book, to game, to movie–but the showrunner, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, has experience with this kind of crossover, having written for Marvel's Daredevil and The Defenders. The show will be filmed (and based on the above video, likely already is) in Eastern Europe, a fitting environment based on the world of the video game. The show will run for eight episodes in the near-ish future, likely sometime in the year 2020.
