LeBron James has reportedly hired a team of armed guards to patrol the grounds of his Los Angeles mansion after learning that the home had been targeted by a group of burglars. LAPD recently apprehended four suspects in connection to a string of high profile burglaries in the Los Angeles area, but it is believed there are much more people involved in the heists.
The four crooks were reportedly responsible for more than 24 burglaries in high end neighborhoods, including the homes of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig (multiple times), Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods, Rihanna and Christina Milan, among others. Both Puig's and Woods' homes were broken into while the athletes were on the field.
According to reports, the thieves had a list of a dozen other celebrity homes that they wanted to hit, such as those owned by LeBron, Matt Damon and Viola Davis. As a result, the Lakers' forward reportedly has at least 10 armed security personnel at his home, including off-duty police officers, according to TMZ Sports. Additionally, TMZ reports that the NBA's security team is also involved in the security plans.
LeBron and the Lakers will host the Sacramento Kings in their third preseason game tonight. They'll kick off the regular season on the road in Portland on October 18.
