J. Cole explains his album delay for "Born Sinner," and says he has the label's full support.

Delays are nothing new in the music industry, especially the rap game, so when J. Cole announced his album wouldn't be dropping as early as he had previously said, no one batted an eyelash. In a new interview with MTV News, Cole explained why his original release date for Born Sinner was a bad move.

The Cole World rapper said that his record label was cool with his original decision to drop the LP at the top of 2013, "They were cool with it, like 'Whatever you wanna do'," he said of Roc Nation and Columbia. He continued to explain, "Really that was a bad move. We decided that we got everybody playing on the same team and the same frequency. This is the sophomore album let's not fuck around," the Fayetteville native said. "Let's really roll this out right, get the proper single, get the proper videos, proper brands. There are certain things that you can line up to make an album feel bigger."

He says this time 'round he has the label's full support, even more then when he dropped his debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story. "On this one we're getting full label support," he said. "We got a sync about us this go 'round that was not there on the first one, and it's a beautiful thing."

Although a date has yet to be formally announced for Born SinnerJ. Cole said in a recent interview that we can expect it around Tupac's birthday, June 16th.
