Killer Mike, born Michael Render, has made another move outside hip-hop since joining the board of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Mike joins three other fresh faces to the 85-person Board of Directors for a three-year term, 11 Alive reports. Mike told the publication that the role took no convincing and he's simply doing what he's supposed to do.
"I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing… I'm a kid like you who is from here. We're from here," he said. "We're a product of the schools here. We were told by our parents to go out and make good and make sure your name is good in this community. So one more role is not going to hurt. That's what you're supposed to be doing."
The "Big Beast" rapper plans to align the museum with the artistic expressions of Atlanta. "That's hip-hop. That's R&B. That's Atlanta nightlife and culture," he explained. "For me, I'm the working class social connectivity."

Together they’ll bring extraordinary new perspectives, voices, and talents to bear on our mission.”
