Rich The Kid started the year with such promise. Not every rapper's debut album features the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Offset, Quavo, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and more. That's not to say he's dependent on featured artists either; his solo-cut "Plug Walk" is still making a mark as one of the year's biggest hits. Plus, the rapper seemed to draw first blood during a beef with Lil Uzi Vert, targeting him both lyrically and visually on "Dead Friends." Unfortunately for Rich, one cannot simply win forever; L's are bound to rear their ugly head at some point.
Earlier this month, Rich The Kid found himself on the receiving end of a confrontation with Lil Uzi, who ultimately proved too intimidating a foe. Rich opted for flight over fight, taking shelter in a neighboring Starbucks; to make matters worse, he even ran behind the counter, doing everything but yelling "Sanctuary" a la Quasimodo. From that moment, it seemed as if the public perception of Rich had altered. Unfortunately for both The Kid and his fans, another black mark has emerged to further tarnish his recent track record.
According to Page Six, Rich was booked to perform at the 1Oak nightclub in Chelsea on Sunday night. While his performance itself was praised by those in attendance, the brevity of Rich's set was dubbed unacceptable. Apparently, Rich played a meager three-to-four songs, including "Plug Walk" and "Lost It." It's no surprise that many felt unfulfilled by the brevity. Some might call it the musical equivalent of being wham-bam-thank-you-mam'd.
