Joell Ortiz and Apollo Brown dropped off the lyrically laden album Mona Lisa in October. The piece of art was a masterpiece that will go under the radar in the commercial world, but it is elevating the roots of the culture. Tucked away on Mona Lisa is "Grace Of God," a masterfully produced single where Ortiz flexes his rap ability. Now, Ortiz and Brown have delivered visuals for the album.
Directed by New Vision films, "Grace Of God" places Ortiz in front of a projector as he lays down his lyrics. Flashes of scenes that narrate the struggle of the streets paint a picture on Ortiz as he steps around in front of the projector, swaying effortlessly to the beat. Crack cocaine and the destruction it left behind are the most jarring visuals that project onto the rapper and the wall behind him, but we wish there were some more scenes in the video for Ortiz to do his thing.
