Moneybagg Yo drops off a heated reflection of self.

Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo began November on a high note, dropping off his Reset album on the second. Now, with one day left until December, Moneybagg has come through to bookend the month. Enter "Blood In My Eyes" the "It Is What It Is Remix," a loose drop recently uploaded on Moneybagg's YouTube page. Clocking in at a few seconds short of three minutes, the reflective single finds Moneybagg at his most melancholic, aware of the harm he has caused and the pain he has since witnessed.

The up-tempo instrumental is anchored by a creeping synth progression, and Moneybagg's strained cadence effectively speaks to his troubled mindstate. "Can't get attached right now, heart cold like the weather in Chiraq right now," he spits, "better wear a vest right now, somebody in my city getting stressed right now." As the narrative goes, it's always those from your hometown that show the most love and the most hate. Moneybagg seems to prefer cautious optimism, in that sense.

Quotable Lyrics

Can't get attached right now
Heart cold like the weather in Chiraq right now
Better wear a vest right now
Somebody in my city getting stressed right now
