Killer Mike is giving back to the youth in his hometown.

Killer Mike is known for giving back to his community and speaking openly about his opinions on a number of things. Although summer is just really getting underway, the Run The Jewels rapper already has the kids in mind for back to school by offering free haircuts to the youth this August. Mike will be giving out the fresh looks from his own chain of barber shops, S.W.A.G., at two locations: 365 Edgewood Ave. and 3461 Roosevelt Highway.

There will be two dates for kids ages 5-17 to cash in on the offering, July 28th at the Edgewood location and August 4th at the Roosevelt Hwy location.

Killer Mike was recently blasted for his interview with the NRA on gun control since he sided with gun ownership during a time of heightened tragedy after numerous school shootings. The NRA seemingly only shared parts of the interview that would benefit the corporation, that prompted Mike to issue an apology, followed by releasing the full interview for those to understand where he was coming from.

"I did an interview about black gun ownership in this era," he said. "That interview was used a week later by NRA TV to disparage a very noble campaign that I actually support [...] I'm sorry that an interview I did about a minority—black people in this country—and gun rights was used as a weapon against you guys. That was unfair to you, and it was wrong, and it disparaged some very noble work you're doing."
