J-Soul returns.

J-Soul has been slow rolling it as of late. While never officially announced, the Toronto rapper walked away from the Cash Money imprint recently and has since been pushing new tracks over The Public Records.

The latest drop to come is his “Dark Clouds” track, another output of J’s signature moody soundscapes as a bass-driven backdrop guides the track while J-Soul outlines a life dealing with both internal and external distractions while attempting to break free of a pattern of destitution as he raps: “Had to keep the oven open cause the crib’s cold.”

While he dropped off his L.I.S.A. EP last year, J-Soul has yet to confirm the arrival of any follow-up for the time being. Until then, get into “Dark Clouds.”

Quotable Lyrics

Hot water on the stove
Couldn't pay the hydro, no
But, it's okay I'm 'bout to blow
Won't miss the crack on the floor
I can't take it no more
'Bout to kick in your door
No more being poor
