Nike's Colin Kaepernick Ad Results In $43M Worth Of Media Exposure: Report

Nike's Colin Kaepernick ad is already paying off.

Nike's 30th anniversary "Just Do It" campaign featuring free agent QB Colin Kaepernick went super viral this week and remains one of the biggest stories in sports and lifestyle as we ahead into Week 1 of the NFL season. In fact Apex Marketing Group reports the polarizing ad resulted in more than $43 million worth of media exposure gained within the first 24 hours.

Nike's "Just Do It" campaign has been the topic of discussion all week as supporters and Nike boycotters have taken to social media to weigh in on the ad, which is part of a much larger campaign meant to specifically speak to 15- to 17-year olds. 

"We believe Colin is one of the most inspirational athletes of this generation, who has leveraged the power of sport to help move the world forward," Gino Fisanotti, Nike's vice president of brand for North America, told ESPN.

"We wanted to energize its meaning and introduce 'Just Do It' to a new generation of athletes," Fisanotti said, per ESPN.

The latest spot in Nike's 30th anniversary "Just Do It" campaign was revealed yesterday and it features a video with a voiceover by Kaepernick. In it, Kaepernick references several star Nike athletes including LeBron James, Serena Williams, Shaquem Griffin, Odell Beckham Jr. and others. According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, the new ad will air tonight during the Atlanta Falcons vs Philadelphia Eagles regular season opener.
