Colin Kaepernick's political stand has been rewarded by an organization of repute. Amnesty International, the London-based organization that focuses on human rights and issues of political imprisonment, has rewarded the out-of-work football player with its highest honour.
Kaepernick accepted his award at a ceremony in Amsterdam, saying he shared the honour "with all of the countless people throughout the world combating the human rights violations of police officers." The official designation of title is that of Amnesty's 2018 Ambassador of Conscience. Colin Kaepernick has suffered the consequences of his decision to kneel before the National Anthem in protest of "the criminalization of Black men and women in America. during his acceptance speech, Kaerpernick described the police killings of racial minorities in the United States as "lawful lynchings."
Amnesty International Secretary General Salil Shetty expressed his respect for Kaepernick as he described the "vitriol" would go on to receive as a result of his actions. Colin Kaepernick is still without a job in the NFL. Rumors of his signing with Pete Carroll's Seahawks were quickly dismissed, with the coach leaving the door latently open. The nation's elected president even called for Anthem protesters to lose their job, none more daring than Colin Kaepernick.
