“There would be no women in UFC without Ronda Rousey."

Former UFC bantamweight champion, and current WWE superstar, Ronda Rousey is set to become the first woman inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Rousey will be inducted on July 5th at The Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas, and she will be part of the ceremony, according to reports.

In the official press release, UFC President Dana White described Rousey as an "absolute pioneer" who became a global icon and role model while ascending to the top of the women's division.

“There would be no women in UFC without Ronda Rousey,” said UFC President Dana White in the official press release. “Ronda is an absolute pioneer who helped me personally, and a lot of other people, look at women in combat sports differently. She accomplished everything she set out to do with UFC and became a global icon and role model in the process. Today, the women’s divisions are packed with incredibly talented fighters and they produce some of the best fights you’ll ever see. We’re proud to announce Ronda as the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.”

Rousey took to social media after the announcement became official to say, “This is an immense honor, to not only take part in bringing women to the forefront of this sport, but now the Hall of Fame. May I be the first of many.”

The 31-year old fighter lost the final two matches of her career by way of knockout at the hands of Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, but left the sport with a 12-2 overall record - including victories over former UFC champion Miesha Tate, former Olympian Sara McMann, Liz Carmouche, Cat Zingano, and Alexis Davis, according to MMA Mania.

With her UFC days now behind her, Rousey is currently immersed in the world of professional wrestling. On Sunday, June 17th, Rousey will look to capture her first WWE title as she takes on WWE Raw Women's Champion Nia Jaxx at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view.
