Fast food chains became a tad bit cynical after IHOP, formerly known as the International House of Pancakes, changed their name to IHOb, swapping out the flapjacks to rebrand themselves as the "International House of Burgers."
The chain is now trying to break into the lunch and dinner market in order to win over patrons looking for dishes that do not involve eggs, syrup or powdered sugar.
Naturally, Wendy's reacted to the news with a pointedly sarcastic jab at IHOb's rebranding. "Remember when you were like 7 and thought changing your name to Thunder BearSword would be super cool? Like that, but our cheeseburgers are still better," the company wrote.
Red Robin similarly took a direct aim at IHOb's newfound fixation on the hamburger, noting how the company is as "serious about pancakes as @IHOb is about burgers."
White Castle announced how they will be changing their name to "Pancake Castle," while A&W flipped their logo upside-down in their attempt at a name change.
Moreover, Waffle House reassured a concerned customer that they will not be changing their name to Burger House.
