Whenever NPR rolls out a new episode of their Tiny Desk series, you know it's going to be special. There have been episodes that have helped to bring further recognition to lesser-known artists as they elevate their careers. Of course, the intimate setting allows singers and rappers an opportunity to perform in a different zone than they're used to, usually shining through. The latest artist to film a short performance with NPR is Saba. The Chicago rapper dropped Care For Me earlier this year, which is viewed as one of the most complete pieces of work that released in 2018. For the concert, he brought his entire crew, including his own father, on stage to bless the crowd with a few smooth tracks.
The rapper started out with the album's intro track "Busy/Sirens" before breaking into an introduction session. The Pivot Gang member went through the names, welcoming TheMind, Kaina, Daoud, daedaePIVOT and Chandler, his father. Once the crowd got acquainted, Saba broke into a version of "Logout" and transitioned into "Heaven All Around Me." The crew closed by introducing a stripped-down version of "Life," one of the more personal songs from Care For Me.
