Retired NBA player Jim Jackson thinks the Philadelphia 76ers should focus their efforts on signing Paul George instead of Lebron James for the sake of Ben Simmons' career. With Lebron becoming a free agent this summer, reports say his top teams of choice are The Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, 76ers and his current team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Since the success of the 76ers in the Eastern Conference, some think Lebron may be tempted to join the Cavs rival team, that could closely secure their win in next season's championship. The starting five would most likely be Joel Embiid, Markelle Fultz, Ben Simmons and James. Jim however, doesn't think Ben would be for it.
“Why, if I’m Ben Simmons, would I want to be labeled as ‘I got to the Finals because LeBron got us here’,” Jim said while chatting with The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “Also, because of the way he plays [Ben Simmons], now the ball is out of my hands. LeBron is in the twilight of his career but still playing great basketball. Will he be at this high level? We don’t know."
He added: “I think the player who makes a lot of sense is Paul George. If I’m Embiid and Simmons it sounds great but if I’m management what I’m looking at is all we need is one or two more pieces to complete this puzzle. I think LeBron hampers, in this situation, the growth of where Ben Simmons wants to go because right now it’s his team.”
